A weekend in Homer and Kenai

We travelled to Kenai on Friday to pick up Steve to go to Homer. We left my car at the cabin and took Steve's truck and the camper to Homer for Jesse's swim meet. We had a great time and Jesse had a lot of fun. He swam 4 races and did well. He always swims against this very fast 8yr old boy from Soldotna. We thought he beat him in the 25 back because that is what the time clock told us but turns out he and Jesse had a "Phelps finish" and the older boy won. Jesse did make one YMCA regional time I was told so we are very proud. He has not even been on the team for a year.

We spent the rest of Saturday fishing in Homer and Lindsey practiced throwing rocks. Saturday night we headed back to Kenai and cleaned things up to prep for the drive back to Anchorage on Sunday.

Saturday night, I was in the cabin and heard Kenai (our dog) barking really loud outside. She NEVER barks like that so I went to see what was up. The kids were on the porch and Steve was just inside the camper. I looked around the corner of the porch to see Kenai squaring off with a cow moose. They were about 5 feet apart. I yelled for Steve and MOOSE! I was not worried about the moose hurting the kids or me..but stomping the dog. That moose would have won if that had occured. Kenai is wearing a training collar and thankfully came after only being calle twice. The moose hung out and we took some photos. Then later we noticed there were two. This was a mama. Thank goodnes her calf was not around when the dog decided to say hi!

Some shots of the swimming pool. Also, Steve who was HOT and trying to figure out how all this swim stuff works. This was a small meet..only 50 kids..so it went fast. I told Steve he needed to come to a big meet with a couple hundred plus kids!

Home 2 years July 8th!!!!

It is amazing that is has been 2 years since Lindsey joined our family! It seems like she has been here forever! She has gone from not being able to roll over to climbing that giant slide in Kenai! I made this video and I hope you all enjoy it. We are going to do something fun today as my mom is having surgery tomorrow and Steve is out of town. We did get to see Steve for about 20 minutes last night because he drove a load to Anchorage and we drove him to the airport to go back to Kenai!

Motorcycle guy..and a GIANT SLIDE VIDEO!!

I took this video at the parade and festival after. The man on the Harley was so nice to the kids and you can hear me telling Lindsey no because she kept asking him to blow up her balloon. She did get a couple of extra candies from him. The next video is the kids climbing to the top of this huge slide! You can also hear me worrying out loud and Steve acting like it was no big deal. The kids did great and Lindsey went down all by herself after some assitance getting up! :)

July 4th in Kenai, Alaska

We drove to Kenai Thursday night to see Steve. We stayed until Sunday afternoon and then inched our way home. There was traffic going down but that was a different story coming back!!!
We went to the Kenai 4th of July parade and then to a friends for a bbq. In between all that Steve and Jesse flew kites, the kids played with squirt guns, we went to the playground and just had a good time. It was WARM!!! In the high 60's to mid 70's while we were there. We arrived home in Anchorage to temps on my side of town that were in the low 80's. THAT is about my limit. :). I have included some photos....

More parade fun!! The man on the motorcycle was so nice to the kids!! He even handed Lindsey some extra candy!! The unfortunate thing was when he got off his bike it fell over!! Those are heavy and it took 3 guys to pick it up again!

I spotted what I thought was just one moose on the way out of the cabin, one street over. We went back and found out it was a mama with not one but 2 babies. Not the best pictures but I had to take them fast because mama was not sticking around for a photo op!

Waterslide!!! Lindsey in Kenai

We have been busy as usual. Jesse just got back from an action packed trip to San Francisco with Grandma, and Grandpa Ed. They got to visit with my sister who was attending a conference with her friend. The weather has been purely "Alaskan", sun, then thunder storms, then sun again. We have not been able to do to much outside and with Jesse gone last week it was rather "quiet". Those that know my son know EXACTLY what I mean. :).

Last weekend, Lindsey and I drove to Kenai to see Steve with the dogs. Lindsey did GREAT! She is now officially in big girl pants! YEAH!!! She has to wear a pull up on the drive south just in case there are no rest stops when nature calls. I am not ready to help my 3 yr old do her business behind the closest tree! I have included some photos of Lindsey and daddy at the park last weekend in Kenai.

This weekend Jesse went to a swimming birthday party and then was FINALLY ABLE put up the water slide!!! It his the 70's so it was a must do! I have included some photo and will be uploading some video. Jesse loved the slide and Lindsey even went down all by herself. A video of the kids doing down the slide is at the bottom of this post.

DTC!!!!!!!!!!

Just a quick update to let everyone know that our dossier is on the way to China! Next news will be our log in. After that we can send off our pre approval paperwork.

GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We do have to fill out the supplement form for immigration due to the little issue we had. However, we are still chugging right along with out wait..and nothing will be affected by this. Oh and one other thing. WE DONT HAVE TO PAY THE FEE!!! Our agency is picking up that part since it was their little typo. :) YEAH!!!
